The three-piece electronic music unit Sawa Angstrom from Kyoto is releasing their 4th EP, just three months after their previous work. They’ve put out four EPs in a single year, maintaining a fast pace while keeping their quality high, making them a hot topic. Consider this EP a Christmas present from the band.
Their 1st EP, DdTPt, 2nd EP, OF FOOD, and 3rd EP, LEVEL, introduced new, globally recognized electronic music. These works were highlighted by major streaming platforms and became long-term hits—an unusual achievement for electronic artists before even releasing an album.
They’ve grown globally through two international tours, performing alongside overseas artists such as Hanging Up the Moon (Singapore), Big Bend (US), Prairie WWWW (Taiwan), and DSPS (Taiwan).
This EP is inspired by Icelandic artists and the harsh natural environment. It starts with a light dance-pop track, followed by a metallic and bit-crush downbeat that crawls along the ground. The third track is minimal funk, melting together with twin vocals, while the fourth sings of the end of the world with a powerful dubby beat that shatters ice blocks. The journey concludes with a pleasant Balearic Beat, where a cut-up voice continues. This EP is a masterpiece, representing the culmination of their work.
As with their previous releases, Tatsuki Masuko (ROVO, DUB SQUAD) handled the mastering for this digital EP. He has worked on numerous projects, including those by SUPERCAR, Miu Sakamoto, Yoshinori Sunahara, Kicell, clammbon, UA, ART-SCHOOL, SCLL, fhana, and Shuta Hasunuma, ensuring high-quality sound.
